Upcycled Envelope Bag by Meg Quinlisk
For years I have carefully stored my scraps from garment sewing with the intention of using them for something like this but somehow never got round to it until now! I pieced the outer layer from small scraps of a panel print which had finally been turned into a shirt after being guarded for years in my stash as 'too precious' to cut out. I was really happy to have a way I could bring together those scraps into something that I could use in my life. The inner layer is a single larger piece of blue linen also leftover from a sewing project and even the batting inside is a scrap from a long ago quilting project. So this is more a scrap-saver than an upcycling project. :)
I machine sewed the whole thing then turned and topstitched it, then folded up and machined the side seams. I decided on a machined buttonhole closure and used a souvenir button from a special trip. Lots of memories contained in this one bag!
