Teaching Woodwork in Waldorf Education
Each afternoon from 12:30 to 2:30 Pacific time woodwork teachers will gather together for presentations, projects, and discussions specifically relevant to teaching woodwork in Waldorf education.
Topics will include:

Michelle Foxx
​
Michelle began working in the movie business in 1987 in the special effects field, building and painting sets, and sculpting with different materials. That career track went on for 15 years before she discovered the Waldorf Institute of Southern California and became certified through the teacher training program.
Michelle then began working at the Pasadena Waldorf School in 2002, as the first-grade class assistant and an After Care staff member. She has been the Woodworking teacher at PWS since 2003, and the After Care Director since 2004; She has taken her turns at being faculty chairperson, and joined the College of Teachers last September.

Kemal Lowenthal

Kemal Lowenthal graduated from Green Meadow Waldorf School in New York
before earning a BFA in Ceramics and an MEd in Waldorf Education. He has over ten years of experience teaching a variety of subjects in Waldorf schools, including: woodwork, clay, basketry, weaving, copper work, stone carving, math and block teaching. He has been teaching 4-12 grade crafts at Green Meadow Waldorf School since 2020. Kemal is the chair for the art department, chair of the Teacher Development Committee, support chair for the grades section and sits on the Collegium at Green Meadow. He is an active green woodworker and potter whose children now attend Green Meadow Waldorf School.
