About the event

Our theme this year is the IMAGE OF THE HUMAN BEING IN THE HANDWORK CURRICULUM, and we will be focusing (but not exclusively) on doll-making in the ‘middle grades’: 6,7,8, in both conferences. Some sessions will be pre-recorded, and some live, some practical, and some digging deeper into the curriculum. There will also be an optional afternoon studio time/ discussion session from 2-3.

We are pleased to announce our guest teachers Betty Staley (Tending the Spark); Christine Schreier (Puppenstube); Dahlia Haberman (hand sewing/ heavy baby); Jennifer Aguirre (puppetry curriculum); Samiah Hinton (SamiahFineClothing.com - drafting clothing patterns); Hana Khatib (Pepper and Pine) on photographing and video-ing your work for online presentation; discussion and sharing of best practices.

Note: this year, our first online conference, at short notice, the timeline is tight, so you are responsible for your own supplies. A list of easily procurable supplies will be sent when registration is received. We will keep supplies simple; you will need basic sewing supplies.

SCHOLARSHIP REQUESTS:

Our goal is to make the conferences affordable to all, to the extent it is possible after covering our fixed costs and overheads.  Requests will be honored as funds allow. Scholarship requests should be made in writing (or by email) before the earlybird deadline. Later requests may be considered if any scholarship funds remain. As a general rule of thumb, scholarships will not exceed 50% of the full registration fee. To request a scholarship email Elizabeth at WandWofHandwork@gmail.com or Melanie at Melanie@eastbaywaldorf.org
