Advent Candle Holders

This year has been filled with many losses. But there is so much beauty and abundance to be found in nature and in our communities. Imagination and creativity truly do bring hope and joy to the season!

This year for our advent spiral we had to reimagine the event due to Covid. We traditionally dip tall taper beeswax candles and use apples for the candle holder. It is normally an indoor evening event. This year we will be holding our advent spiral outside and we live in a windy place! So I knew the tall taper candles would likely be blown out by the wind.

So we decided to create advent candle holders from nature using a slice of wood for the base and a glass jar with a votive candle to protect from the wind. Our community spent the Thanksgiving break hiking every day and collecting treasures from the forest, the mountains, and the beach. We gathered treasures representing each of the 4 kingdoms for advent; seashells and glass gems for the mineral, plants, flowers and berries galore, feathers for the animal, and of course, a sweet gnome! A little hot glue and a lot of imagination went into creating these beautiful candle holders!
