This online workshop is for teachers and parents who want to teach their students and children to knit, and may or may not already be comfortable knitting themselves. We will work through the basics of knitting, usually taught in the first grade in Waldorf/ Steiner education, and most importantly, how to teach it effectively and enjoyably.

Elizabeth Seward, author of Teaching Through Stories: Jane and Jeremy Learn to Knit, has over 40 years successful experience teaching children and adults. You will learn basic knitting skills, such as casting on, casting off, the basic knit stitch, and how to change colors for stripes. You will also learn how to effectively and enjoyably teach these skills to children in a classroom or homeschool setting. We will make a bunny (or two) and a butterfly (or two).

Prerequisite skills
A willingness to learn, and willingness to work between classes.
